Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service

The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service supports patients living in Oldham, Bury, Heywood, Middleton, and Rochdale. Their service aims to provide a valuable resource to the community, offering a wide range of services to support people affected by cancer. They are based at the Royal Oldham Hospital, but we also provide support at Rochdale Infirmary and Fairfield Hospital when required.

Macmillan 1-1 Support Service Oldham

The Macmillan 1-1 service Oldham supports any adult from the age of 18 with a cancer diagnosis who live in Oldham or has an Oldham GP, they support from diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond, we support family members who are affected by cancer and see patients on a 1-1 basis, they can support people face to face or by telephone and can signpost to other services to help with a cancer journey.

Despite being called “The Oldham Quiet Ones”, membership has no geographical boundaries and members are laryngectomees who have suffered throat cancer and who share their own experience to help each other to cope.

Macmillan Information and Support Service – Tameside General Hospital

They provide literature & practical support on all aspects of  living with cancer including health concerns, emotional issues, managing side effects, financial issues including travel & insurance costs, claiming the appropriate benefits, managing your finances, managing debts, employment support (both for employees & employers), help to access the support available in your area and more.
